The weather man completely missed the forecast for today’s trip, they called for flat calm seas, but as soon as we cleared the pass it was 3 ft out of the Northwest. I had a really good group of local guys who were expecting a good catch to fill the freezers. We took the path of least resistance and ran the trough down south to a little break and caught our limit of yellow tail snapper and Lanes on the light rods. We released several small mutton and gag grouper as well while bailing the snapper. By now the waves started laying down a bit so we pushed out a bit further to 85 ft of water and started looking around for new pieces of hard bottom. Our Simrad 12 inch display paired with a airmar 1kw transducer can really find the little pieces of rocky grouper bottom. I found a little scratch on the sounder and anchored up, and watched all four rods double over with some huge red grouper. After topping the fish box off with our grouper limit I wanted to check out a “snag” I got from a friendly shrimper last year out in an area I didn’t have any fishing spots. When I got close to the number the bottom machine fired up and the barracuda’s and Amberjack swam right to the boat. We anchored up and played with a few big Jacks and Cuda’s releasing a couple big yellowtails. Lost a couple African Pompano boatside to the huge resident Goliath Grouper. We are pushing out a bit further now with the twin engine boat and its really paying off for us. If your a local or just in Naples for vacation enjoying sunny Florida look us up and book a fishing trip we would love to have the opportunity to show you a great time. #naplesfishingboat #visitflorida
