Most people on vacation come to southwest Florida for our plentiful sunshine, however the importance of good sunscreen sometimes gets lost in the travel plans. Perfect example, we just fished a great group of guys from the Northeast who didn’t realize the strength of the Florida Sun (even on a cloudy day). I fished them on a partly cloudy full day charter on a Tuesday, and when they returned Thursday for their other full day trip this is what I saw. (see photo above)
Although you may be laughing right now…. in all seriousness this is just a quick reminder of how important sunscreen is sunny or cloudy.
I have taken the liberty of including a link to the American Academy of Dermatology’s website below on how to properly apply sunscreen and when. Florida has the second highest rate of melanoma cases in the nation. The top four states are (1) California, (2) Florida, (3) Texas and (4) New York according to Florida Society of Dermatology.
Don’t forget your sunsceen!
